Alexander Sprekenhus on Anti-Oxidants
Oxidation is part of our everyday metabolic function, and is vital to overall health. During the process of oxidation, free radicals are unleashed which can damage healthy cells.
Free radicals are a result of skin being exposed to UVA and UVB rays, pollution, or if the skin is stressed.
Also, smoking, eating poorly or not resting or exercising can affect the quality of the skin.
Antioxidants can neutralise free radicals and are found in food such as olive oil, citrus and coffee.
The application of antioxidants is also encouraged to fortify the skin; Especially A, C and E works well in helping to repair and protect surface cells. Vitamin C, helps to reduce formation of free radicals.
We have therefore included a variety of anti-oxidant rich ingredients in all our skin care formulas.
